Why Community Matters to Wade Gayler

Wade Gayler has had a servant's heart for many years. He has made his life about being part of the solution to those in need. He served as the Senior Disaster Program Manager for the Idaho/Montana region of the American Red Cross. He managed Red Cross disaster response teams for Hurricane Sandy, the Oso Washington Mudslides, Floods in Louisiana and Wildfires in Colorado and Idaho. Wade led long-term recovery programs to restore communities by fostering cross-agency coordination and collaboration and securing financial donations and volunteer labor commitments to rebuild homes destroyed by natural disasters.
He has been a critical leader for the Idaho Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) for over eleven years. Before the Red Cross, Wade served as the Director of Disaster Relief for the Utah/Idaho, Southern Baptist Convention for nine years, where he managed over 700 volunteers, 34 mobile units and led teams in over 50 disasters in the U.S. and around the world which included Hurricane Katrina, American Samoa Tsunami, and the Haiti Earthquake. Wade’s experience, dedication and passion to help rebuild lives is something that will be a great blessing to the mission at The Building Hope Project.
